Privacy policy — सारथी (Sarathi)
What Sarathi is
Sarathi is an on-device Bhagavad Gita companion. Questions, answers, reading, and learning run on your phone using a local corpus database and (when downloaded) a local language model. There is no Sarathi account and no Sarathi cloud chat server.
Data we store on your device
- Language, level, theme, model choice, lens preference
- Chat history (on device only)
- Learning progress (verses read, quizzes, journeys, memorisation)
- Downloaded model / voice files in the app’s private storage
- Optional AI reply reports you create (until you share them)
- Optional “Help improve Sarathi” local metrics (off by default; never chat text)
We do not operate a Sarathi backend that receives your questions or progress.
Network use
- Optional downloads: On first setup (or from Me), the app may download a language-model file and optional speech models when you choose to. Prefer Wi‑Fi; cellular for large files is restricted by the app’s download policy.
- Runtime chat / Gita answers: Designed to work offline after those files are present. Answers are grounded in the on-device corpus, not fetched from a Sarathi server.
- Not claimed as “zero OS network”: Android, Google Play, and the system text-to-speech engine may use network under OS or vendor control. That is outside Sarathi’s app logic.
Permissions (typical)
- Microphone — only when you hold-to-talk or use voice features; audio is processed on device (Vosk) when configured
- Notifications — optional daily verse reminder
- Internet — for optional model/voice downloads you start
Children
Sarathi is a scripture companion, not a social network. Follow your region’s store age guidelines; do not use it as a substitute for crisis care for minors.
Crisis / safety
If you express self-harm or related distress, the app shows fixed helpline information (e.g. Tele-MANAS / KIRAN in India). Sarathi is not a doctor or crisis counsellor.
